The Dew Tour is a series of five extreme sports events that is in its sixth year. It takes place June through October and features the best athletes in Skate and BMX.

The Dew Tour debuted in June 2005, as the first action sports tour. The Dew Tour is now the world's premier extreme sports tour and consists of five major multi-sport events that take place over the course of five months, June through October in five different US cities. Over the course of the Tour, athletes compete in each discipline to accumulate points based on their individual-event finishes, each striving for the most overall points and the title of Dew Cup champion. The winner with the most overall points is also awarded the title of Athlete of the Year.

Skateboarding and BMX Events Featured in Dew Tour

The Tour features skateboarding park and vert, and BMX park, vert and dirt competitions. More than 150 of the top action sports athletes in the world compete in the Dew Tour. In 2010, the Dew Tour includes a skate-specific event, the ISF Skateboarding Championship in Boston in June, and a BMX-specific event, the Nike 6.0 BMX Open in Chicago in July. The five-stop tour will then continue on with multi-sport events in Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas. The winners from 2009 will be returning to defend their championship titles and bring on a ton of excitement at each Tour stop. The 2009 Dew Cup champions include Chris Cole (skateboard park), Bucky Lasek (skate vert), Garrett Reynolds (BMX park), Jamie Bestwick (BMX vert) and Ryan Nyquist (BMX dirt). FMX (freestyle motocross) was downgraded to only a demo event in 2009, and it is unclear if FMX will be included at all in 2010.

The Complete 2010 Dew Tour Schedule:

  • Skate Open ISF Skateboarding World Championships, June 25-26 – Boston, Mass. – TD Garden
  • Nike 6.0 BMX Open, July 23-24 – Chicago, Ill. – Museum Campus
  • Wendy’s Invitational, Aug. 12-15 – Portland, Ore. – Rose Quarter
  • Toyota Challenge, Sept. 16-19 – Salt Lake City, Utah – EnergySolutions Arena
  • Dew Tour Championships, Oct. 14-17 – Las Vegas, Nev. – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Points System

Athletes who qualify in each event receive points based on the final results of that competition. A maximum of 400 points may be earned per discipline across the Dew Tour. At the conclusion of each event, athletes are awarded points corresponding to their final placing and are then ranked on the current Dew Tour Rankings. Rankings are maintained throughout the Dew Tour season, and at the conclusion of the fifth stop, the final year-end Dew Tour rankings and awards will be announced.

Las Vegas – the Final Stop on the Dew Tour

The 2010 schedule introduces a new host city, Las Vegas, where the final stop and the Dew Tour Championships will be held in conjunction with the year-end awards ceremony. The final stop will feature intense competition that will also decide the Tour's overall winners in each event. "We are excited to host the first Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas,” said Pat Christenson, President of Las Vegas Events. “This event will be our first foray into championship action sports and a great addition to our roster of Signature Events.”

"All five of our host cities for this upcoming year have shown tremendous support, and the addition of Las Vegas to the slate will make the final event of the year that much more dynamic and dramatic," said Chris Prybylo, Alli (Alliance of Action Sports) Vice President of Events and Dew Tour General Manager. "We look forward to what this season will bring and the climatic conclusion of the Dew Tour Championships in Vegas this October."

Free Flow Tour and Festival Village

Key lifestyle elements complement the competitions at each Dew Tour event including the Festival Village, specialty competitions, and live music. At each Dew Tour event there is also video gaming, BMX and Skate interactive courses, giveaways of new products, and the opportunity to get autographs and meet athletes. Some stops may also feature Gatorade Free Flow competitions at the same time. These are amateur contests, where non-sponsored skaters can win money, prizes and possibly an opportunity to compete in the Dew Tour Finals. The Free Flow sites will be publicized later in April.

The Dew Tour is broadcast on NBC, MTV and USA Network, Universal HD, Fuel TV, and distributed worldwide. Tickets for all events will be available soon also. Check out the Alliance of Action Sports website for details.
