The 18th annual Tampa Am skateboarding contest brought the luminaries of amateur skate to the East Coast skate mecca, the Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT). The new course at the SPoT was completed in November just in time for the Tampa Am. It has beautiful, crisp features and is still deliciously gritty and it took a beating as almost 250 of the world's best ams hit it hard, vying for one of 40 slots. SkatePark of Tampa had a live webcast of the contest to satisfy skateboard junkies.
Skateboarding Rolls On at Tampa Am
Thursday, December 1, 2011 kicked off the long weekend with an art show to benefit Boards for Bros, SPoT's charity. The Damn Am Awards, honoring the best of the amatuer skateboarders, were held on Friday, December 2, 2011 and the Tampa Am qualifiers got underway on Friday and Saturday. The semi-finals and finals were on Sunday, for a weekend full of wondrous skate insanity.
Here is the full list of registered riders for the prelims and once again, Lacey Baker shredded with the guys, not discouraged by a lack of ladies' division.

SkatePark of Tampa
Since 1993, the SPoT has served up some of the tastiest, most legitimately gnarly skating on the US East Coast and in the world. The Damn Am contests began in 2001 to spread their brand of skateboarding beyond Tampa.
The Tampa Pro has been and still is an A-list contest that features the best hardcore riding at one of the world's landmark skateparks: the SkatePark of Tampa. Look for the 18th Tampa Pro, March 23-25, 2012.
